Matt Downin was recently named as one of 7 new members of Running USA’s Board of Directors last week. The Board consists of 17 members (15 elected) who each serve 2-year terms. The Board is comprised of running industry leaders from all aspects of the industry, from events, to organizations to corporations, who bring a wide variety of skill-sets to the table.

Together, the Board is responsible for decision-making and activities that support Running USA’s purpose of advancing the growth and success of the running industry. They meet various times throughout the year to discuss the betterment of both the Running USA organization, and the industry as a whole. Each Board member also participates in at least one additional committee, helping to plan and execute anything from the annual Running USA conference, to membership management and strategic planning for the organization.

Matt has been with Chronotrack since 2012 and currently serves as National Director of Key Accounts. He joined the Running USA Board to support the sport and industry that has been a large part of his life for the last twenty-five years.  Matt has diverse experience in practically all areas of the endurance events industry, not only as a business person but as an athlete.  He has coached, managed running stores, directed races, timed races, and managed professional runners.

During his career, Matt has worked with all levels of businesses in the endurance events industry including startup companies attempting to break in to the industry as well as large corporate entities that are well established.  He enjoys a fast paced environment, and has generally worked in cross functional roles that have include sales and marketing, training, customer service, building new products, QA, analyzing software issues, and assisting with changes to existing products.  With ten years as a professional runner, Matt brings the athlete’s perspective to all of his industry roles.
